Aim & Objectives

As a Charitable Society, Godhuli’s mission is to look after the well being of the Street/Slum Children on the Gandhian principles with special emphasis on the following aspects:-

Providing free education up to Class III as envisaged in Articles 24 & 45 of the Constitution of India, well as by Father of Nation

“By education I mean an all round drawing out of the best in the Child and man- body, mind and spirit”

Donation for US!

All Donations are eligible for Income Tax exemption under Section 80 (G) of Income Tax Act.

Godhuli has also been registered under Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act 1976 for accepting donations in foreign currency with out permission from Ministry of Home Affairs under Registration No 231660298 of Nov 2002

Providing free study material and uniforms to children in order to encourage them to attend school.

Providing vocational Training ( Gandhiji’s ‘Nai Talim’)
Providing affection, counselling, guidance and training to such children so that they become responsible citizens.

Strategy

Godhuli aims to function as an NGO for education and other welfare activities for Street/Slum Children whose number has swelled to 5 crores or more in India- the biggest single denial of Human Rights in history.
Godhuli aims to establish norms for the education of Street/Slum Children, so that they do not drop out before completing Class 10. Their education should be seen as a help and not a hindrance to future livelihood, and they become productive and proud citizen of India.
Godhuli aims to establish a Network of Schools for poor children- to be named ‘ Bapu-Ba Godhuli Shiksha Grih
Godhuli aims to provide Strategic Inputs of-
   - Planning and formulating proposals/projects for such schools and working for their support from government, private and institutional sources
   - Providing orientation, direction, guidance, monitoring and funding support to competent local voluntary groups for operating such schools
Godhuli aims to work in close cooperation with organisations and individuals engaged in the field of welfare of Street/Slum Children, elimination of Child Labour and providing Free Education to children as envisaged in our Constitution.

Benefits of Educating Slum/Street Children

Fulfilment of basic right of children- a basic tenet of Swaraj and of the Constitutional provision of equal opportunity to all
Elimination of Child Labour and resultant employment to adults
An important step towards empowerment of girl child, as illiteracy is more prevalent in girls than boys, and towards population control due to education of girls
Enhanced economic productivity- no nation has progressed without universal basic education. Japan had introduced it over 100 years ago
Social brotherhood and peace due to reduced disparities
