Godhuli- A charitable society for educating Street / Slum children

Humble Beginning

1995: Godhuli started its first school in 1995 at JAN VIKAS KENDRA, Slum wing, Patparganj, Near Trilokpuri Police Station, Delhi with 40 children in class I. By 2005-06, Godhuli had 280 Children in class I to V in forenoon shift and 80 students in Class I & II in afternoon shift.

2000: Encouraged by the success of the first Babu-Ba-Bal Shiksha Griha at Patparganj, Godhuli started its second BAPU-BA BAL SHIKSHA GRIHA in a temporary shed in Meera Bagh slum behind B Block Paschim Vihar , West Delhi and now this school has Nursuery section and Class I to III with 230 Children in the morning shift and 120 children in afternoon shift. Godhuli today educates total 350 children in two schools.

2005: UEE Mission- Godhuli’s association with Universal Elementary Education (UEE) Programme of Govt of Delhi dates back to 2005. With the winding of old scheme, a new programme was envisaged in Sept 2007 by UEE Mission. Godhuli opted for “running non-resident Bridge courses for out-of-school children for mainstreaming in regular schools and also for carrying door to door survey for identifying children above 6 years who are not attending any school. Subsequently in 2009, Godhuli’s empanelment was approved by UEE Mission. Accordingly two “Learning Centres” were started in the afternoon shift in Meera Bagh School with a total strength of about 60 children.

2008: MOU with Srijan Foundation Trust, New Delhi for running a free coaching centre in a very poor village at Kuma Para, Dist Puri, Orissa. However, Matri Kripa Trust’s activities have since been discontinued.

2009: MOU with Ekta Shakti Sangathan a social welfare registered society, to run school at Basti Vikas Kendra of Municipal Corporation of Delhi in slum area of Blocks 6, 7, and 8 of Khichripur, East Delhi. Two ‘Nursery Classes’ with 35 children each are running quite satisfactorily from Aug 2009. From Sep 2009, Coaching classes for class VI to X in English, Maths and Science were also started for boys in morning and girls in the afternoon for their academic improvement.
